Dining plan descriptions

The following dining plans will be available for the 2015-2016 academic year, including some some new Meal Plan options. Here are some benefits of the new plans:

  • Additional meal plans mean you have more choices!
  • Guest meals are included in every meal plan, except CYO
  • You have the ability to add additional Flex Dollars throughout the year, with bonus incentives!
  • You receive a Discounted Door Rate if using Flex Dollars: $5.00 for breakfast, and $8.00 for lunch, brunch or dinner.

  • 23 On Demand -- 23 anytime meals per week to be used in Resident Dining Halls, plus $100 in Flex Dollars per year. Includes 24 Guest Meals. Non-transferable. Available to all students. $6,090/year
  • 21 On Demand -- 21 anytime meals per week to be used in Resident Dining Halls, plus $200 in Flex Dollars per year. Includes 24 Guest Meals. Non-transferable. Available to all students. $6,090/year
  • 19 On Demand -- 19 anytime meals per week to be used in Resident Dining Halls, plus $300 in Flex Dollars per year. Includes 20 Guest Meals. Non-transferable. Available to all students. $5,980/year
  • 15 On Demand -- 15 anytime meals per week to be used in Resident Dining Halls, plus $500 Flex Dollars for the year. Includes 20 Guest Meals. Non-transferable. Available to all students. $5,910/year
  • 12 On Demand -- 12 anytime meals per week to be used in Resident Dining Halls, plus $700 Flex Dollars for the year. Includes 16 Guest Meals. Non-transferable. Available to sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students. $5,320/year
  • 10 On Demand -- Ten anytime meals per week to be used in Resident Dining Halls, plus $900 Flex Dollars for the year. Includes 16 Guest meals. Non-transferable. Available to sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students. $5,140/year
  • 5 on Demand Greeks and Grads -- Five anytime meals per week to be used in Resident Dining Halls, plus $600 in Flex Dollars per year. Includes four Guest Meals. Non-transferable. Available to RAs, graduate students or those undergraduate students living in an approved Greek Residence. $2,380/year
  • CYO "Create Your Own" Plan -- 200 meals per semester. Dining Plan holder may also choose to convert meals into Flex Dollars. Additional restrictions apply. Conversion rate is $8.25 per meal. Meals must be converted into Flex Dollars by Friday, September 25, 2015 for the fall semester. No more than two conversion submissions will be accepted per student per semester. Unused meals will be forfeited at the end of each semester; however, Flex Dollars will carry over from fall into spring semester. Non-transferable. Available only to juniors, seniors, and graduate students living on- or off-campus and to those Undergraduate students living in an approved Greek Residence. $4,660/year

Flex Dollars -- Flex Dollars, which add flexibility to your dining options and are incorporated into each plan, are yours to spend like cash at Hospitality Services locations in the Rensselaer Union, retail cafes around campus, Moe's, concessions, and resident dining halls. Flex Dollars are allotted by semester and carry over from the Fall to Spring semester, but end on the last day of the academic calendar and are thereafter forfeited. Flex Dollars are also forfeited upon cancellation of meal plan.

I will participate in the 12 ON DEMAND PLAN at the cost of $5,320 per year. (12 anytime meals each week, plus $700 Flex Dollars per year.)
I will participate in the 10 ON DEMAND PLAN at the cost of $5,140 per year. (10 anytime meals each week, plus $900 Flex Dollars per year.)
I will participate in the 5 ON DEMAND GREEKS AND GRADS PLAN at the cost of $2,380 per year. (5 anytime meals each week, plus $600 Flex Dollars per semester.)
I will participate in the CREATE YOUR OWN PLAN at the cost of $4,660 per year. (200 meals each semester, with option to convert meals into Flex Dollars.)
 


Terms and conditions of this agreement

All Rensselaer policies and procedures, existing and as changed from time to time, contained in the current Rensselaer Catalog, and other Rensselaer and Student Life publications, including the 2015-2016 price list, are part of this agreement and must be read by all students.

Dining plan terms and conditions

Meals are not served when Rensselaer is not in session, including Thanksgiving, Winter, and Spring recesses. Certain dining facilities may be closed during specified periods of the academic year. Between 11:00am and 2:00pm, the Russell Sage Dining Hall is restricted to only Quad, E-Complex, North, BARH, RAHP, Stacwyck, Colonie, and Blitman Commons residents, as well as Polytech Apartments residents. Flex Dollars are allotted by semester and carry over from fall to spring, but end on the last day of the academic calendar and are forfeited thereafter.

  • Dining plans are not transferable.
  • Dining plans are for the entire academic year.
  • Students may not take food out of a contract dining hall, except under conditions specified by the dining hall management.
  • Students may sign up for dining plans at any time. Changed will be pro-rated on a weekly basis.
  • Daily operating hours vary by dining hall location.
  • All sophomores, as well as BARH and Blitman residents, are required to participate in a dining plan.

Dining plan cancellations

Cancellations to the dining plan agreement are very limited and are subject to all of the following:

  • There is no penalty for written cancellations delivered to Auxiliary Services before 5:00pm on Monday, August 31, 2015.
  • After August 31, 2015, students cannot cancel their dining agreements for the remainder of the academic year.

Changes in dining plans

Students may increase or decrease the size of their dining plan up until the first Friday after the day classes begin for a particular semester. After this date, only increases will be allowed. Cancellation does not constitute a change.

Refund schedule

The following table shows the refunds of dining plan charges for students who withdraw from Rensselaer or take a leave of absence prior to the completion of an academic term.
